Dear Hancock County Residents,

Next year you will be selecting a new Sheriff for Hancock County. While there will be several good choices, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce a friend and colleague who would make an exceptional choice.

John Jester has been a colleague on the Greenfield City Council, a trusted public servant as a police officer in Greenfield and Fortville for 35 years, a well-respected Police Chief in the public sector at Community Hospital, a former Coroner in Hancock County, and most importantly a dedicated father and husband.

With my almost 38 years in law enforcement, this is not the first place I met John Jester. John and I both believe giving back to our community is important. I chose the officiating path, while John chose the coaching path. I first met John several years ago when he was helping to coach wrestling at Greenfield. His dedication and passion for not only sports, but helping the kids, was obvious. From that first encounter a bond was formed

As the former Chief of Police of Greenfield, John would not only have to understand police strategy, but would also have to be the chief executive of the department. This requires understanding manpower allocation, budgets, and working with community leaders to solve problems. As Coroner, John again would have to understand budgets, dealing with the community in a dignified manner, and managing the financial matters of the coroner’s office. Finally, as a Greenfield City Council President, John works with the mayor’s office on budgeting, ordinances, and other civic matters that impact Hancock County residents.

In addition, John was entrusted to develop and build the Community Hospital Police department that services their hospital campuses in various locations throughout central Indiana. This is no small feat, and understanding manpower needs, budgets, equipment allocation, and working with the hospitals’ administration was essential. John has been extremely successful at this task.

As I said in my opening paragraph, you have the opportunity to select an exceptional sheriff, and that person is John Jester. His law enforcement experience, administrative knowledge, and ties to Hancock County are second to none. His roots in this community go deep, and his service to the citizens of Hancock County will be above reproach. Please join me in supporting John Jester for Hancock County Sheriff.
